Alligator Capital of the World
Gatorland which is also known as the “Alligator Capital of the World” is easily one of the most entertaining parks in the Orlando area!
If you are looking for an inexpensive all-day park to enjoy outside of Disney World, then Gatorland should definitely be on your list! We have been to Gatorland several times over the years and it never gets old. Seeing hundreds of rambunctious, magnificent, and EXTREMELY LARGE alligators in their natural habitat is pure joy and excitement!
Founded in 1949, Gatorland is built on a natural swamp in the middle of Orlando with many entertaining shows including the famous, one-of-a-kind “Gator Jumparoo” show. Be wowed by HUGE alligators jumping several feet out of the water to catch their next meal! This is one of the many shows that provides all-day entertainment!
Breeding Marsh
One of my favorite things to do at Gatorland is to just hang out and watch the hundreds of alligators in the breeding marsh swamp. This large, natural, open swamp is the foundation of Gatorland and where they swim around, hang out, and fight each over their territory.
There is a 3-story observation tower and a long walking deck overlooking the breeding marsh and I could literally hang out there for hours just watching in amazement of these pre-historic, magnificent animals! They are truly one of the coolest and mesmerizing animals on this earth!
Hand Feed Giant Alligators
Go beyond the fence and venture into the alligator breeding marsh and hand feed the many GIANT alligators that show up for their daily meal! This is a never forgotten behind the scenes tour that will definitely have your anxiety levels sky high. Watch in amazement as the Gatorland staff safely lure the alligators in for a feeding frenzy. If you’re lucky, you may see some of the famous alligators being called up to eat one by one!
If you choose to stay behind the gates, you can also view as a guest. It is definitely an experience you will not want to miss whether you are an active participant or not!
Screamin’ Gator Zip Line
While we are BIG fans of zip lines, we have yet to experience the “Screamin’ Gator Zip Line”; however, it does look very exciting! It zips along at over seven stories directly above the park at near 30 miles per hour from one end to the other and over hundreds of GIANT alligators below! You can always hear the screams and laughter of the zip line attendees. At 1,200 feet of zip lining adventure, I’m sure it definitely is worth the visit! Gator Gully Splash Park
If you’re bringing the kiddos, grab their swimsuits! There is a great little splash water park with plenty of things to do for the little ones. It’s a fantastic way to cool off in the hot Florida sun while still enjoying everything Gatorland has to offer!

Several Animal Species
Alligators, crocodiles, and snakes OH MY! Alligators are not all you will see at Gatorland. Get ready to enjoy crocodiles, snakes, tortoises, owls, an albino alligator and lots of birds just to name a few. There is definitely a lot to see and explore!
